So pour the champagne

Raya has been a great period of realisation for me.

I’ve experienced both the joys of family reunions and b
itter sweet memories of what could have or should have been .

I’ve witnessed a painful, desperate battle to cling on to life or maybe it was more of a struggle to let go, pass on.

I don’t think I would ever know for sure.

I’ve learned, patience and forgiveness does more good to the heart and soul. Much more in fact, than that of anger, hate, regret.

Through the sincerity and pureness of intentions of the people I love, I’ve found a way to face the demons of my past head on, to banish them for eternity and above all, be at peace.

I’m beginning to realise now, more and more, just how much family means to me.

Maybe, this is growing up.

Porcelain skin and bubble gum tongue

John Mayer

John Mayer's "Waiting on the World to Change" has been my 'theme song' for weeks now. It has this enthralling, feel good rhythm to it and above all, lyrics with an array of critical messages.

These few lines for instance,

Now we see everything is going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it

So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Its hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would've never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
When you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information
They can bend it all they want

Waiting on the world to change, John Mayer

I love meaningful songs. This, if definitely one of those insightful tunes.

I suppose this is pretty random but...doesn't he look really good with the new hairstyle? Gives him a kind of boyish charm, don't you think? Another reason why I adore the music video so much. Duuuuuuh

Anyway.."Daughters", would have to be another JM song I'm very much fond of. One heck of a remarkably sweet song.

Boys, you can break
You'll find out how much they can take
Boys will be strong
And boys soldier on
But boys would be gone without the warmth from
A woman's good, good heart

On behalf of every man
Looking out for every girl
You are the god and the weight of her world

So fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too

Daughters, John Mayer

Sooooo, I was wondering, does anyone listen to JM? I've heard a number of his songs, but only those played on radio. I'm rather curious to know if his albums good. Just let me know if you've heard any one of his cds.

P.S: Speaking of cds, I won MUSE's latest album on Yeen Lynn's blog! (thanks again YL!!) Yup, how cooool is that ^_~

And YES, I am gloating, but only because I can.

Light up, light up

I've never actually attended a Lantern Festival before so you can imagine the level of excitement when the sms came. Celebrating it at Han Yang's was absolutely luminous.

Yea, I know it is quite odd that we forgot to take pictures of the lanterns itself.. buuuut, it was all there nonetheless. If you've never hung up lanterns during the mooncake festival with a bunch of friends, you should the next time around.

It's funny how something so simple can be so pleasurable.

Initially, we were randomly placing candles on one end of the court. Then someone came up with the idea of spelling out SPM, and of course, we decided to go with that. Yup, so we sat around the candles, took a deep breath, made a unison wish and blew 'em out.

I
suppose it was like a little 'ritual' of ours.

Sitting around and talking aimlessly afterwards felt somewhat relaxing and strangely satisfying.

The whole event was really nicely done. Credit goes to the one and only,

Here's to a spectacular night!

Your hands are mine to hold

"Seek wisdom in the ages,
&
look at the world through the eyes of a child"

I came across that lovely quote by Ron Wild while browsing through "For Babies" at BORDERS. The simplicity of his words, it's outright honest, crystal clear meaning, had me instantly. I believe a child sees the world both as it is and what it should be. A child would see in you what everyone else overlooks as though it were the most obvious thing. Maybe that's why it feels so special when they show a hint of fondness towards you.

I dreamt about a little baby girl a few nights ago.

She was mine.

I remember quite vaguely, her soft brown hair, those tiny hands fitting perfectly in my own and that beautiful smile. I have wondered, more than just a couple of times, what it would feel like to have a little one of my own. Don't panic, I'm not pregnant. Or getting married for that matter..

It's just a thought.

Perhaps a result of my day at the bookstore looking at photographs or babies.
